She's finally eating

Claire has finally figured out that eating is a good thing, and we can't get her to stop! As an example, for dinner tonight she ate 2 hot dogs, a package of peanut butter crackers, a bowl of strawberries, and a handful of fried okra. I have a feeling this whole not-gaining-weight issue is about to go away. Hurray!!

This was dinner a few nights ago (goldfish, strawberries, chicken nuggets, veggie bites, peas, and pasta)

J vs. the Triathlon

Jason and his good friend Jim competed in the CapTex Triathlon in Austin over the weekend. They both did a great job, and Kim (Jim's wife) and I enjoyed cheering them on. Here are some of the highlights:

Austin early in the morning

Jumping in...where's J?

See him yet?

Oh yes, of course, he's stopping to wave

Flying by

Seriously, who smiles during this much physical activity???

Yay!!!

With a collar like that we're going to have to get him some gold chains for the next race

Colors!!!!

Claire knows all her colors! She can't say them yet, but she can point out things that are red, blue, green, or whatever color you say. She's so smart!

Hangin out with H

Claire and H spent a lot of quality time together over the weekend while we were at the ranch (well, when Honey and Aunt Lou weren't spoiling her at the mall). Claire was very interested in dissecting the little red berries up there. She would pick one off the bush, carry it over to H, sit next to him, and take it apart. They did this for hours. And I'm sure they both loved it.

Oh yeah, and he also let her swim in the hot tub....

Young Love

Claire and Nathan went on a little date to the park yesterday. They are seriously so cute together. Claire likes to steal Nathan's cup and eat his food, and Nathan just follows Claire around, pretending to be interested in whatever it is she's doing. They held hands and sat on the bench together with their snacks, all without any staging on the mommies' part! I'm sure one day, these pictures will be used for embarrassment purposes.....

So they start off on their own riding toys

Then Claire gets lonely

I love how Nathan looks so shy here. It's like he's thinking "I can't believe she's sitting NEXT to me!"
So cute!!!!

Another trip outta town

We took a little weekend trip to the wineries outside Fredricksburg with Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt Kim, Aunt Jamey and Jeff. Claire had a blast running through the lavender fields and eating lots of ice cream!

Sick Day

Claire and I seem to have come down with an oh-so-fun tummy bug. We've planned a day full of pj's, Gatorade, and Noggin. And lots of cuddle time on the couch. Maybe it won't be such a bad day, after all...

We got to sleep in!!!

Jason and I finally felt brave enough to leave Claire overnight!!!!!!! Honey and H came in for the weekend to babysit while we went to a wedding--and everyone survived!! Yay!!!

Weight Update

We went back in for another weight check this past week......Claire hasn't gained a single ounce in a month (so she's still sitting at 18.8 lbs). While this is frustrating, her doctor doesn't seem to be too worried. Teething has been really bad for the last few weeks, and Claire hasn't really wanted to eat because of the pain, so it's actually surprising that she hasn't lost weight. We'll get through this round of teeth, then give her a few weeks to eat, and take her back in for a weight check in about 6 weeks. In the meantime we'll just keep trying to pack on the calories. Anybody have any toddler-friendly high-calorie meal ideas???

A trip outta town

We went on a little road trip last weekend to visit family up in Oklahoma. Claire did surprisingly well in the car, with the exception of some car sickness in Madisonville. I'll spare you the details and just say that luckily we were close to a grocery store and could stop quickly for cleaning supplies. We only went as far as Dallas on Friday and got to stay at Chris and Lauren's. It was great getting to spend a little time with them and seeing where they live--next time we'll have to plan better so we can stay for more than 12 hours and see the area in daylight!! Saturday morning we got back in the car and drove the rest of the way to Ardmore, OK, where we met up with a bunch of Jason's family. We hadn't seen some of them since September (too long!), so it was really nice catching up with everybody. We were all up there to help Jason's Aunt Kim and Uncle Bryan get ready for the mountain bike race they organize every year. (Their son, Ben, is a really really really good mountain biker--in fact, he's the top-ranked biker in the entire state!!) The race was Sunday morning, and Claire had a fantastic time watching everyone and everything. Great Grandma Jo pushed her all over the park in her stroller so she could watch and cheer on the bikers. That afternoon we loaded back in the car and drove all the way home. It was a long drive, but Claire did a great job again. Thank goodness for Dora and The Backyardigans!
