Baby Update

I had another ultrasound today, and Baby Girl is still right on track! Her weight is up to 2 lbs, 11 oz, which puts her in the 50th percentile--perfect! My doctor thinks she'll be bigger than Claire (she was only 5 lbs, 12 oz), but not huge, which is fine with me! She was lying breach today, which is an improvement over the sideways she's been preferring lately, but that meant that we didn't get any good pictures of her. I've got one more month of every-other week appointments, and then we'll start the biophysical profiles and non-stress tests every week until she's born. Only 10 weeks to go!

Oh, and, yes, we have picked a name. And, no, we aren't telling. :)

Happy Birthday Claire!

Claire turns 3 today! She took cookies in to share with her class at school, but was a bit overwhelmed by all the attention when we got there this morning. When the teaching assistant sang "Happy Birthday" to her in the hallway, Claire took off her backpack and threw it on the ground! And she wanted nothing to do with the birthday crown her teacher made for her. We're having a no-frills family dinner tonight, except for the birthday treat she gets to make with Daddy when he gets home--ice cream!

A Visit from Friends!

We had a great time last week when good friends Nathan, Brady, and Hogan came for a visit! They came to our house Tuesday and we played in the backyard, had a picnic dinner, and opened birthday presents. We started Wednesday off with a trip to the zoo and a train ride, then went back to their hotel for a little "quiet" time. We finished off their trip with a walk along the river and an early Mexican dinner before saying good bye. We had so much fun seeing our friends again! Come back soon!!

A Fantastic First Day!

Claire had her first day of preschool today! She had been going between being really excited about going to school and being really scared about going to school, so I wasn't so sure what we were going to get when the big day came. And, sure enough, she was in scared mode this morning. She hid under our table before we left home and grabbed onto her car seat the whole way there. But once we got to the parking lot, everything changed. She had picked out some candy and markers to take to her teachers, and she was very excited about getting to give them their presents. I think that was the only reason she even got out of the car. She carried one of the presents, marched right on into to the school, found her classroom with no problem, and walked right in--without even a glace at me! She gave the teachers their gifts, put her backpack on its hook, and made a beeline to the fish tank. They had paint set up to work with, too, so she went between the 2 of them, just doing her own thing. I told her I was leaving and she said "bye" and turned right back to the painting. When I picked her up, the first thing she said to me was "I like school. When can I go back?" Yay! And now she's complaining to me that it's not fair that Ms. Amanda, her teacher, gets to go to school tomorrow and she doesn't. Hurray for a great start to the year!

Here she is with her special school breakfast--a banana and "snowy" waffles (waffles with powdered sugar instead of syrup):

Posing before leaving the house. She had to show off her funny faces.

And now giggling about the funny faces.

In the classroom--checking out the fish and painting--the perfect combination!

Here's the happy girl after I picked her up from school. This is the same tree where all of my and Aunt Lou's preschool pictures were taken!

And here's our lunch date at McDonalds. It turned out to be the St Mark's after party spot, so she got to play with more kids and I met a few moms!

It's September!

Yay! The weather is cooler (it's sad when 90 is cooler), school is starting, and I'm getting sucked into fall fever! I'm searching high and low for a new fall wreath for the front door, and I even treated myself to a pumpkin spice latte today. I think I will go into a serious depression if the 100-degree days come back.
