Music to my ears

I had another doctor's appointment this morning and got to hear the baby's heart beating away! It's always a relief to hear that! But, I also heard something just about as wonderful as that at the appointment, too--the doctor actually called me thin! hahaha I was worried about what she'd say when she looked at my weight gain--I've gained 15 pounds in 15 weeks of being pregnant--but she said it's exactly what I need to do. Yay! So in celebration, Claire and I bought a cookie cake on the way home. We have our appointment for the boy/girl ultrasound set up for the week of July 27--only 4 more weeks to go! And we have another ultrasound set up for Wednesday of this week!

Claire is getting so sweet with the idea of being a big sister. She'll tell random people in the grocery store or library that's she's a big sister, and she gives my tummy the sweetest hugs. She also thinks that my belly button is the portal into the baby, and she's now decided that it's her job to share her drinks with him or her. It's awfully sweet, but not so pleasant to have her pounce on my tummy with her straws. I guess it's the thought that counts, right?

Happy Anniversary!

Jason and I celebrated 6 wonderful years of being married on Sunday. I can't believe how fast it's gone! Here are some pictures of our big day:

And here's how we spent the day this year--what a difference! Mom calls it a "Cayman Day", which means all that is expected is swimming, sunning, and reading, with absolutely no other responsibilities!

Some baby updates

We got our results in from all the testing that was done over the last couple of weeks. Luckily, the Downs and Trisomy 18 screen came back completely normal, so that's a nice relief. Not so luckily, though, was the gestational diabetes screen. I had it with Claire, so my doctor wanted me to get tested earlier than usual this time around. And, sure enough, my sugars were too high. The kicker is, though, that of the 4 separate blood tests, I was only high on 1 of the them. And I was only high by 1 point. When we found out I had it with Claire, I was really scared and didn't know much, but this time, it doesn't really faze me. I see it as a pretty good excuse to have lots of ultrasounds. And the best part is that we'll probably most definitely induce 2 weeks early. So that means I'm down to only 24 1/2 more weeks! (But who's counting?) I have 2 more doctor's appointments next week where we'll hopefully be scheduling our big girl/boy ultrasound!

Dancing

We had such a nice little trip to Houston this week, and Claire especially enjoyed getting to see some of her friends. But I think her favorite part of the whole trip was the dance recital she and Nathan put on for us last night. Go over to Kellie's blog to see the video footage. Nathan has some moves!

Back to the land of the living

It's been a tough 7 weeks. We've barely left the house (except to move back in with Honey and H while we took care of some new carpet and paint chemical issues at our house), I haven't returned phone calls, and I even have a going-on-2-months-overdue birthday present staring at me that hasn't made it to the post office (it will come one day, Meredith!). Poor Claire has memorized the TV line up of her favorite channels, and she now tells me "Mommy's tummy hurt" whenever I sit on the couch instead of me having to explain why I can't get up and play at that moment. It's been rough around here. But, things are starting to look up and I'm starting to feel better. And today, we got confirmation that all of this ickiness has been for a good reason:

Claire is going to be a big sister! Hooray! Baby is due sometime around December 20, so it will be either an extra merry Christmas this year, or an extra-uncomfortable-impatiently-waiting Christmas this year. We had our Downs Syndrome ultrasound this morning, and we're waiting to hear the results of the blood test at the end of the week. The ultrasound part of the test went great, though, with Baby measuring exactly in the middle of the range of normal on the graph. You can see Baby sucking his/her fist in the first picture, and Baby showing us his/her dance moves in the second--that blurry part above the tummy is a hand waving. (Sorry they're a bit distorted on here--I'm technically unsavvy with this stuff.)

I have all sorts of pictures to post of Claire's last 2 months, and I'm hoping that I'm getting my energy back to actually work on that. Let's all hope that things are turning the corner around here!
