A Whole Pound!

We just came back from Claire's doctor for a quick check up before we leave for our big trip in a few days. She's just fine, and we got some great news--she's gained a whole pound in only 2 weeks!!!! She's up to a whopping 20.2 lbs!! Yay!!

Connor and Grayson!

Claire's long-lost friends Connor and Grayson came in for a visit last week. We celebrated by checking out the Children's Museum. They all really enjoyed playing in the baby/toddler room, but everyone's San Antonio heritage eventually showed itself--the little Mexican village was by far the hit of the morning. Genetics truly are amazing....

Just some silliness

She most definitely keeps us laughing

Here's her special nap mat (thanks again, Kellie!!) for Mother's Day Out starting in September. Claire LOVES it already. She cuddles up with it whenever she starts getting sleepy.

The New Member of the Family

Yep, Claire's daddy is most definitely a dork (although this is not a surprise to most of us). He picked up his Smart Car on Saturday.

But, hey, it's only going to cost us 30 bucks a week on gas!

Trip Pics

Here are some of the highlights of the trip:

First time on the beach, about 10 minutes after we checked in.....Unfortunately, this was the only sun we saw during the whole trip.

First drinks--margaritas!!

At dinner Saturday night. It was like a cruise in that you had your choice of different restaurants that were all included with the stay. We tried the Mexican, Italian, and Mediterranean places--Italian was the favorite by far.

On the balcony overlooking one of the pools. There were 4 or 5 pools all over the resort, so there was never a problem finding a chair. Our room was by the "activities" pool, but we walked a bit further each day to hang out at the "quiet" pool. We're not exactly the water volleyball or organized-group-dancing type.

And here's the best video ever. Let me give you some background first: So we both ordered margaritas at the Mexican restaurant our first night there. Katie ordered a frozen, I got one on the rocks. Here's what came out from the bar:

Needless to say, we thought it was hilarious and that we needed a picture of Katie with her gigantic glass. We were using Katie's camera, though, and I didn't know how to use it, so I didn't realize that I was taking video instead of still pictures: (And please realize that the margaritas were not very good--go figure--and this was her first sip)

I just think it's so funny that she makes such a horrible face, but then so willingly goes back in for more.

Overall it was a really fun trip--we're already planning what to do next year!

Mommy's Weekend Adventure

Mommy and her best friend since the very first day of kindergarten (nothing breaks the ice when you're 5 like a little dog stitched onto your pocket) went on a little adventure over the weekend. We headed down to Puerto Vallarta for a girls' getaway, and we had a blast. Our daily schedule revolved around when we could eat next, filled in with reading and napping and massages. It was exactly what we both needed to recharge our batteries. (Katie teaches 4th grade, is busy planning her wedding, and is about to start working towards her doctorate, so she also was in desperate need of a mental health break.) I'll post pictures as soon as I get them. And Claire did a great job while I was gone. Grandma came to visit, and the weekend was full of playing and shopping and cooking!
